We based Issue 003 around the International Maritime Signalling Flags. The system of international maritime signal flags is a way of representing individual letters of the alphabet in signals to or from ships. It is a component of the International Code of Signals (INTERCO).

We utilised this encrypted alphabet to hold the message of the piece which was printed in its decrypted form (Fig. 3) on the back of the folded version. The main poster side (Fig. 2) translates as ‘The Entente Cordiale / Brighton England / EC I Zero Three’.

Sized at 340mm x 500mm offset printed in four spot colours in an edition of 400 (folded) + an editioned single sided, poster of 50 copies (for sale via Colophon Foundry).
